Having enjoyed the first book I was looking forward to seeing how this story concluded and Noni really delivered.
Once again this story has so many twists and turns that you are never quite sure what is going to be revealed next. I actually managed to guess a couple of the twists in this one, which is a rare occurrence for me. It was great to finally get the truth behind everything that went on over the three years. I really liked the glimpses into the past to see what really happened to everyone back then.
You get to know another set of characters in this book and once again Noni has done a great job with the character building. By the end of the book it is easy to forget that these new characters weren't just always part of the story.
With the new characters comes a load of new powers and it was very interesting to see yet more ways in which their Speaker ability can be used.
Overall this was a very enjoyable read with a fun world, great characters and a plot that keeps you interested until the very end.

Very happy to complete a series (just two books) and be completely happy with it. I'm a little sad it's over, but I can see the author has some other series, so I'll have to check them out. This picked up where book 1 finished up. Honestly, I finished the first and went right on to the second (both included in Audible Plus, so available immediately) so both books blend together somewhat. This had some twists and turns I was not expecting at all (often I feel like I can see "twists" and such, not really surprising). A few "ahhhhh" moments that grabbed at my heart.
Same narrator - same wonderful Australian accent. Good voices. Again, as far as I recall, completely clean, YA but I (older) enjoyed it too.

⭐️ - didn't like it
⭐️⭐️ - it was ok
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - liked it
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - really liked it
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - it was amazing
Loved it. It was really good, throughout the book I had no clue who Alyssa would end up with. Ward or Kael? Now I know and damn, makes sense dude. It was really interesting to see how she acted around everyone as she's learning knew things about herself.
There was a lot going on, especially towards the end, like omg my brain is on fire just trying to take in all of the information and putting all of the pieces of the puzzle together.
I loved all of the characters throughout the book. Even all of the different stories she was given by them, all of the different truths mixed with lies. It was soo cool to see everything unfold before my eyes. Learning all of these different pieces of information and trying to uncover the truth yourself.
Lynette really does know how to keep you on your toes, that's for sure.
10/10 recommend this duology to anyone that's looking for something to get your brain going.
