Loved this series but the ending had so much more potential.

this book had so many twists, i could be suffering from whiplash... started and finished Weapon in 4 hours and was worth the late night. it was a satisfying end to a good series

Was incredibly excited for ‘Weapon’ to be released after all but devouring ‘Whisper’ in one night, however I can’t help but feel mildly disappointed in the final instalment... the book was absolutely brimming with twists and turns and constant action, which was excellent and you best! believe I devoured this book too just so as to keep up with everything, but I found the twists to fall short after being thrown so many at once, like the shock had lost its full effect. It felt rushed - perhaps it would have worked better as a trilogy? And I didn’t feel I got to experience the depths of the supporting characters, as I imagined would have been further explored in this book, after being introduced in ‘Whisper.’

The book describes a short period of only a few days, in which a lot happens. The lack of exploration of Alyssa’s relationships with key characters is perhaps what bothered me the most. The interaction between her and Ward (or lack thereof) is somewhat disappointing, especially considering he was a huge part of the first book. The fact they didn’t even kiss in end makes my head hurt. Sorry but, what. I was rooting for you!! I know they still got together but, then what!! I would’ve loved to of explored more of Kael’s dark character and overall motives, as I found his personality switch to be expected, but also incredibly abrupt and very short lived. Again with the characters of Smith, and her brother, I think I really would’ve liked more time with them to really delve into their characters and find ease with Alyssa as I again found it to be veryyyy abrupt. Excellent plot and world and love the characters, just wish it could’ve been stretched out more instead of so bunched up, and gone deeper into certain parts. Also end was incredibly cheesy man, I don’t know... I just feel like it had so much more potential!!!! Agghh!!! It was set up so beautifully

If you thought Whisper was a brain musher just wait until you read this bad boy!

How do I even describe Weapon without spoiling anything? It's probably impossible but I'll attempt to do so. Let's just say that everything you think Whisper set up in Weapon it would all come crashing down and you will discover that everything you presumed is wrong wrong and wrong. Everyone is lying and the truth is really hard to find not only for
Alyssa Scott
but for you as well.

Weapon obviously takes off from where Whisper left off which would confuse you a lot if you haven't re-read/read Whisper before this. Alyssa remains with the Remnants and is trying to discover the truth about her parents and Lengard on top of trying to save the world from Vanik.

That's literally all I can say without spoiling anything for you and trust me this is one book that would absolutely flop if it was spoiled for you. You need to be constantly guessing things because if you know the plot twists I reckon this book would fall flat on you.

What I can say is that Lynette Noni is an evil genius. A REALLY REALLY evil genius. The way she can weave this book together is insane! The flashbacks and the storyline were so perfectly weaved without skipping and creating loopholes for the storyline. I was in awe and at the edge of my seat the whole way through because this woman would literally not let you fall asleep while reading this. Also Riley. Just Riley. If you read the book you'll understand how much I love Riley okay! I must admit I wanted more Riley in the book but like... this is the series finale and I WISH WISH WISH Noni will continue the story in the future because there are so many things she can touch on especially with the ending and what happens to the villains.

I AM HERE FOR ANYTHING WHISPER RELATED. I LOVED IT AND I DIED

After more than one year and a half, I can FINALLY mark this book as "read".

And I'm glad I actually read it!

The books in this duology are such a breath of fresh air. They are realistic, even if they are YA, and even if they are science fiction. And they are so well written and interesting, they keep the reader wanting to continue.

I really liked Alyssa's character, she was a strong young woman that never let her vulnerabilities stop her from continuing on her path to know herself and the capacity of her power.

I also enjoyed that there was romance but only a tiiiiny bit of it, enough to satisfy my need for it. I also loved the friendships, and even the betrayals were... cool? Yes.

Great book, great series.

It is the sequel of Whisper duology. I read whisper about 1.75 years ago and wanted to read it for so long. But same bibliophilic life when you wait for a book then put it on pending :D.

I am not going to claim that it is mind-boggling, I already said it before that there isn't much ground to play in dystopian. But Lynette Noni's writing is so beautiful, it just flows perfectly.

If I talk about story, honestly I didn't remember much of it when I started it but after some time I started to remember the main things. If you don't like so many characters than I am afraid it isn't for you, there are so many. I felt the pace slower than the first book. The story also didn't impress me in first half, It wasn't moving but the second half totally hooked me. If you aren't focus enough there are chances that you'll miss some important point (SO MANY THINGS WERE HAPPENING).

The thing I liked the most is that the author didn't try to convert it into the same love-triangle dystopian cheesy story. I really appreciate it.

This was a fast paced and satisfying conclusion to Whisper. There was one twist that I predicted, but many others I didn't see coming. For YA there was minimal to no romance which was nice for a change. Overall a great read about the lengths people will got to for revenge with a compelling villain and a strong female protagonist.

I almost never review sequels because I don’t want to give away spoilers, so this is all new territory for me.

I read almost the entire book in one day – it was completely addictive and so easy to read. For me, it’s the mark of good book when I wouldn’t really change anything. My issues in the first book were resolved to my satisfaction. All loose ends were tied up, and conclusion was open ended enough that you can imagine the future you want.

Something I really like about Lynette Noni’s books is that she takes tropes and cliches inherent in the genre, and she does one of two things: she turns them on their head, or she acknowledges them and pokes fun at them in these meta moments.

She does a similar thing with the info and clues she lays down. Even though I sometimes wanted to shake Alyssa and point her to the answer, she got there not long after I did. It annoys me when a main character is completely oblivious when they have all the information. Alyssa was a breath of fresh air in that respect, because she was rational and acknowledged that there would be repercussions to her actions, and she admitted when she wasn’t sure about something. It’s like Lynette Noni has somehow read my list of things I hate in books and set out to address every single one of them.

Weapon had some genuinely surprising twists. While I predicted some things, there were others I never saw coming. The last couple chapters were what tipped it over to five stars, because all the foreshadowing was there, and I still did not see things coming. I like to be knocked off my feet like that.

I also liked that there was a hint of romance, but it was dealt with in a mature, subtle, and quite rational way. By that I mean that the main character didn’t just turn into a pile of goop whenever she even thought about possible love interest(s). I really appreciated that Alyssa’s feelings didn’t completely run the show, and her rational mind tempered those feelings when it was appropriate. (God it’s hard to be non-specific.)

I don’t feel like I can say a lot more about the characters, but I loved Arryn, and I really loved Smith’s backstory. And all I will say about Vannik, our resident psycho, is that by the very end he was given a bit more depth, which I appreciated.

I also liked the thought and research that had gone into the setting. It was nice to read about (semi) familiar landmarks in Sydney. And the whole underground tunnels is actually a real thing, which is so cool.

Here come the minor spoilers, so if you aren’t interested, stop reading now.

MINOR SPOILER

My one quibble is this:

It was completely unrealistic that the whole gang made it out alive and only some of the bad guys died. The stakes were too high for everyone to come out of it physically unscathed.

4.9, the only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is that I hadn't read book one in two years so it's been a while and reading book one would've helped me remember what happened but the good thing is that it sort of hints as to what happened during the first one. Another great series done. Can't wait for more
