Not a bad fantasy... the lackluster rating is mainly due to the fact that I listened to this on CD, and the narrator was emoting all over the place. And while my students will probably relate to Kendra and MIGHT even relate to Seth, he just came across to me too much like a brat. There's a difference between courage and immaturity, and Seth's actions were too often in the latter category. I enjoyed the storyline and thought that Brandon Mull created a world with a lot of potential, but these characters just never grabbed me enough that I had to know what was going to happen next.

I really wanted to like this book a lot, but I had to force myself to keep reading it. I just could not get into it. There were elements I liked, but overall I really just didn't care at all about the characters or the creatures of Fablehaven.

Very cute in some parts. Half was a very fun read. Half was a bit tough to get through. I think I'm just not the target audience.
