On the morning of her 30th birthday, Lucy wakes up to discover she physically can’t tell a lie—a magical twist that forces her to confront every part of her life, from her career to her romantic relationships. As she navigates this unexpected honesty, she learns what it truly means to stand in her truth.
In terms of overarching storylines, this one had all the ingredients for a book I could love. I actually started reading it on the eve of my own birthday—just like Lucy—which made it feel a little bit like fate. I loved the concept of a personal awakening and the message of letting go of things that no longer serve you. However, I had a hard time connecting with the characters, and much of the story felt a bit superficial. A lot of time was spent on the boss storyline (no spoilers), and Lucy’s moments of "speaking her truth" often turned into lengthy monologues that felt more preachy than powerful. While I appreciate the feminist themes, the delivery felt more like a lecture than a compelling fiction read.
Endearing. I liked Lucy a lot and I appreciated the cast of characters she had around her. And this also reads like a very well written after school special

Lucy is alone at the bar the night before her 30th birthday and wishes for a perfect day on her 30th birthday. When she wakes up the next morning, she finds herself fighting against her old routines and saying things she would usually keep to herself.
This story takes place mostly over just the one day, but we see Lucy changing in more ways than just the number at the front of her age.
This is such a fun, semi-light feminist novel, with a great message to women of all ages: stop lying to yourself, live your life, and don’t listen to the patriarchy. – Michelle V.

Woman externalizes a feminist awakening on her 30th birthday, makes it "find out" time for a harassing boss, and keeps meeting up with hot bartender. If you want a light fun romcom-ish(rom takes a backseat mostly) read peppered with feminist rants (complimentary), this is for you.
The only thing that saved me from DNFing this book was that it was under 300 pages and it was mildly entertaining for a bit. Just wasn't for me. Too predictable. Not enough going on. Didn't feel connected to the characters. Will be adding to the donate pile!

I don’t remember what made me pick this up, but I’m so glad I stumbled upon it. It’s been awhile since I’ve been so fully engrossed in a romcom. I easily became obsessed with everyone, and I love the character growth. It was fun to read and fun to talk about. I can’t wait to read more from this author!

I was excited to read this book as it seemed like it had a fun premise. However, the execution fell flat. I can understand what the author was trying to do, however, the main character frustrated me to no end. Some of the things she had to rant the truth about because she couldn’t lie seemed so forced. The MFC did not seem like a “hero” to me, rather much more of a helpless victim who couldn’t stand up for herself 99% of the time. Perhaps I’m being too harsh and I personally am too opinionated and vocal to relate to this character.
