Ok, this was a really good book. You can tell it was independently published, but it was really polished that one could hardly tell. I love Laurel and Chrys so much. Imagine Mistborn magic system in a avatar the last air bender setting, with a couple trying to survive as one of the main characters, does that intrigue you? ok, my only gripes are these chromawolves. Why are they green? Why do they have two tails? They are just weird and don’t seem to fit in. Also the third main character plot line was a little bland. Finally, what’s with the oranges? Stuff like that brings you out of the story, because it almost seems to be a medieval setting, until you realize there are oranges, and if doesn’t seem to fit in a “fake” albeit but still somewhat traditional fantasy setting with stone town, and people living in trees. But this was really good, I love a good couple relationship that still survives through all of this stress, and it’s not a perfect relationship, but both parties know that and are trying to do and be better people as an example for their newborn child, we need more of this in the world.
