Nice mystery / escape room style read. Short chapters worked well and kept the pace of the book nice and quick. I have to say I did work out a key part of the plot really early on but it didn't take away any of the enjoyment.

I would have enjoyed learning a bit more about the Hawthorn brothers as it feels like they all have interesting stories behind them. I also felt some parts of the story were kind of brushed over / rushed past when I had hoped for a bit more info.

Overall really enjoyable read and looking forward to picking up the next in the series.

A fun, simple, puzzle game. It feels like a bit of a murder mystery but not;  there’s no murder, there is a mystery to be solved. Someone dies and the main character is driven to figure out why this person left her his billions of dollars instead of the family (daughters and grandsons) he left behind.

There’s a love triangle between Avery and two of the brothers, Jameson and Grayson. Its history repeating itself with a death of a girl named Emily in their past. This part of the story felt pointless? Like it was introduced to add to the drama but I guess it was being used as a red herring. A choice by the author but ultimately a dead end and in the end it felt like an inconsequential loose end. Overall I enjoyed the journey, it’s fun to fantasize about inheriting a lot of money. I also enjoyed the puzzles and mystery aspect.

This has been on my TBR for awhile and once I picked it up, I read through it quickly. The premise was interesting and I enjoy a good puzzle/mystery type book. I found the main character(and particularly her thoughts on the potential love interests) a bit annoying at times but not enough to ruin the story for me. I appreciate that it set up the next book well while still feeling like a (mostly) complete arch.

This book was very hunger games meets knives out but also with a little bit of a beautiful creatures undertone. This book left me very confused on how I felt. In the beginning I felt the book was slow to me and didn’t grab me, I debated DNF-ing this book, but I powered through and knowing how it ends and reflecting on it as a whole made me appreciate it more. I struggled most with not liking the characters and not trusting ANYONE. Avery grows on you as the book goes. I am still not sure if I am committing to the full series, but knowing me I will eventually do it.

I loved how short these chapters were. Anyway this book was not at all what I was expecting but it's really good and I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series.
