Things I liked
- Surprisingly the love triangle didn’t bother me. This was a rare occasion where the melodrama worked for me.
- The different dynamics each character had with each other. I’m hoping to see even more complex relationships in the next books
- The momentum of the plot pushed me to keep reading. I never felt bogged down.
Things I didn’t like
- I wanted to see Avery stand on her own more with the puzzle solving
- I don’t get what Avery sees Jameson or Grayson, other than them being hot and mean lmao. They’re smart and well crafted for the story, but they are both SO mean to her at different parts and they never apologize. I do appreciate that the book ends without an established relationship, I think this gives more plausibility to the scenario. I would love to see Avery beat them lmao.
I don’t want to critique the puzzles in this too much because I think for the YA genre they were suitable. However I hope that they step up in difficulty in the next book!
Also I think the author is a Supernatural stan and my proof is that Jameson Winchester Hawthorne has green eyes.
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, and Physical abuse

I actually like Jameson at first but I felt that he was too 'immature' for Avery, he didn't really think much about her feelings whilst Grayson had done things behind the scenes to protect Avery. I hope she ends up with Grayson, I wont mind if its Jameson but I would be happier if Grayson was her endgame, I think they balance each other out.

Finally deciding to read booktok books this year. This did not disappoint.
I decided to listen to the audiobook on Spotify during my roadtrip to Toronto. Needless to say I was thoroughly entertained.
Need A fast pace novel to hopefully get you out of a reading slump? Then I recommend listening to this one. It also has sequels if you end up loving it.
Grayson or Jameson? That is the question everyone is asking themselves. Which one should end up with Avery? And I’ll offer you the only correct answer. None of the above. Avery describing Rebecca as beautiful and gorgeous every time she saw her is a little fruity. The alternative would be Grayson and Avery. As for Jameson, he belongs with me 😃
