Not a fan! I tried this as an audiobook because the library had it and I've been on a comedy kick. The thing is...it wasn't funny. I don't have much experience with Jon Stewart and I won't be returning to his work. I find him to be a pompous and offensive prick whose approach at humor is to make fun of everything he can think of. I didn't enjoy this at all.

Listened to the audio book and found it quite amusing! Sigourney Weaver (I wish she would narrate my life), John Stewart, John Oliver and other Daily Show correspondents narrate. I particularly enjoyed the FAQs (Future Alien Questions).

I think Jon Stewart's The Daily Show is one of the most consistently funny things on television. The sharp, clever writing combined with Stewart's facial expressions, tone of voice, animation and stunningly perfect timing and delivery make for a news program that I look forward to watching.
Therefore it was no surprise that I took this title home from the library instead of putting it back out on the shelf. It's written as a guide for the aliens that have discovered Earth long after humans have been extinguished. The graphic style is one that is popular with younger 'reluctant readers': large pages with lots of pictures that vary in size and many captions. There is never too much text, never too many pictures, it's a fine balance. Think of the world records and Ripley's Believe It Or Not! books for kids, and you'll get an idea of the layout.
The writing style is, much like the Daily Show, sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek, irreverent, and honestly laugh-out-loud funny. This book was too large for me to comfortably read in bed, so I read most of it in public--at work, in waiting rooms, and at my son's Tae Kwon Do studio. Since I chuckled out loud very often while reading it, I was surprised no one ever said anything. Maybe they had read it too.
My only complaint is that after a while, it was just too much of a good thing. It's a large book, and there are lots and lots of tiny captions to read; I didn't want to miss any goodness. Yet my LOL moments became farther in-between towards the end.

I'm a huge fan of Jon Stewart and this book has been laying around begging to be read for quite some time. Because I'm lazy I got the audiobook which turned out to be a huge win. It's narrated by Jon Stewart, The Daily Show correspondents (including my two favorites: John Oliver and Jason Jones), and the ever surprising Sigourney Weaver. It is a funny visitor's guide to Earth with hilarious FAQs, summaries, and explanations for the way humans "rule" Earth. History, technology, religion, and the environment are just a few of the subjects that get delved into. The only thing I missed out on by listening to the audiobook is all the sweet pictures and diagrams, but oh well. At times laugh out loud funny, but also, a little too easy to put down.
