Love this book! Can’t wait to start tearing my house up! Well it’s already a mess! Can’t wait to make it cozy!

I’ve been a huge fan of Myquillyn Smith for some time. I connect with the “cozy minimalist” ideals and aesthetics more than any other decorating “personality” I’ve ever heard of. To somehow balance my love of thrifted eclectic treasures and my desires to donate everything I own to the thrift store. This book was fabulous for understanding how to do that. I love the clear step by step instructions.

In theory, this is what I'm looking for: cozy minimalism. However, the book seems to be written with a very "American hoarder with a huge house" mindset. I detest the giant pieces of art that demand that you relax or feel happy. I'm disappointed by the design, because it seems so sterile and emotionless. Also, with the focus on big houses, it seems like people who are trying to pack everything they own into a very small apartment where they live and also work are kind of out of luck. That being said, I think that the author's ideas about how to organize a room are at least helpful. I was also happy to see that she wasn't suggesting that every single surface had to have something on it.

This book likely saved me quite a bit of money and certainly relieved my perpetual frustration with interior design. Smith gives a simple framework for designing with a balance of function, purpose and beauty.

Would be great for someone who is looking for decorating help and doesn’t have a lot of stuff or doesn’t want to buy a lot of stuff.

A good book for those looking for to start. Who appreciate management steps and how to get going. More design and use inspired but very practical on what is useful, marrying cozy to minimal in their cute t rm "comi" but also reiterating either minimalism or maxism will lead you astray, focus on your likes and uses and you'll succeed!
