Not the ending I was hoping for. I knew 1/2 way through the ending would be a dud because there was like 10 open story lines and nothing was wrapping up or coming to conclusion, more was just happening. This is an immediate indicator that the ending will be rushed, and anticlimactic… exactly what it was… predictable, and kind of lame. It also just ends, for as much words and rambling went into 4 book, there could have been a little more detail in the resolution.
So over all it was a good book to read bc I kept picking it up and I wanted to know how it was gonna play out but in the end it just didn’t wow anything.. the whole series ending is like 1 chapter and it really doesn’t even tell a good story. There is zero closure for 95% of the character plots. If you’re gonna give a lame predictable  happily ever after then at least make it worth it to read a good ending. I would probably recommend this is your really into ya fantasy or if you’ve read all the other good romantasy stories and are a fast reader so it’s not a huge waste of time.

Second read through:
What can I say, these books are addictive.
__
Note: This review is for the Seven Realms series as a whole, but contains no spoilers.

This series took a little while for me to get into the first book, but after I finished The Demon King I was hooked and marathoned the rest of the books.

My favorite aspect of this series was probably the world building. Often in YA fantasy novels the world seems very underdeveloped, but that was not the case here. I enjoyed reading about all of the seven realms various cultures and the tensions between them though the name of this series is somewhat deceptive as it manly focuses on one of the seven kingdoms in this world known as the Fells.

This series often references historical events in the seven realms. I really like when fictional historical events help shape the present in fictional universes because it makes them feel more realistic. Though, as most of the events referenced happened a thousand years ago, it was somewhat unrealistic that so little had changed since then, but this is a common occurrence in fantasy novels so I’m willing to ignore this fact. The ways that the historical facts had been distorted with time made me think a lot about how our own history has been manipulated.

I liked that the romance in this series never overshadowed the fantasy elements. The romance gradual in development which is something I really appreciated, though I do somewhat wish Hans and Raisa had spent more time together in the early books.

Many of the characters were very well developed. Our male main character, Hans, was probably my favorite. I found his backstory as a reformed thief fascinating.

These books just seemed to get better and better as the series went on. Each book seemed to expand upon the scope of the world a little more, and the plot progressed nicely with several twists. It’s not often that I feel the urge to read all the books in a four book long series in a row, but this series continued to feel fresh and engaging throughout.

There are so many things I love about this book, there's no way I could list them all. First of all, this is a great conclusion to the series. It ties up strings that were left unraveled in all of the books. And this book was so fast paced, you were hit with new information and revelations at every turn. And I love that.

I've said this before, but I love the characters in this series. There's so many and they're all so well defined, even the ones that I didn't like. But so many are so real it's impossible not to like them. Ugh I had so many feelings about so many of them. RAISA! HAN! MICAH! CAT! DANCER! Even you ALGER! You're all going to be the death of me.

So if you like high fantasy, kick ass heroines, guys that don't make you want to stab your eyes out, relationships that doesn't revolve around your typical love triangles, action, adventure, magic, or pure awesome? Then you should read this series.

This book was unbelievably and an amazing ending to this series.
The seven realms books are now one of my all time favorite series and also reminds me why i love fantasy as a genre.
All i have to say is, if you haven't read these books, do it because it is so so worth it.
I absolutely adore Han alister. He is such an amazing character, and i loved the relationship between him and Raisa.

If I could give this book 10 stars i would.

This was a little slow for me at times but overall a decent end to the series. I liked the first two the best.

The first 2 books were pretty slow. It always picked up 3/4 ish way through so I kept reading. Book 3 got exciting faster and this last book was very exciting all they way from start to finish. The love story is a bit juvenile, but the characters were very likable. The world was interesting, the politics were very believable, and (unfortunately) realistic.
