Back when computers were people, and all the computers at the JPL were women--by design!
I'm interested in comparing this with Hidden Figures.

I liked this book, but the way it was organized made it kind of hard to follow.

Mixed thoughts. Fascinating topic. Didn’t love the presentation or writing style.
So great topic. Average writing at best.

A set of biographies of women that played a prominent role at JPL, from its beginnings building rockets to plotting trajectories for space exploration. The second half of the book, dealing with the different NASA missions was very exciting and inspiring. I loved seeing the evolution of technology used to do their work - must have been incredible having a career spanning pencil and paper, sliding rules, mechanical calculators, room-sized computers, etc.
