The book has a solid story and great characters. The character of Gennie, the five year old niece of the male lead character, was hilarious and delightful.

I gave the book 3 stars because the story dragged. If it were about 1/3 shorter, it would have been a much better read. It was very slow moving and felt repetitive.

This small town romance is one of the best I've read yet. I can't wait to read more from Kate and I promise it will be sooner rather then later. I loved the spice. I loved the my wife trope. And she made me love a kid which is a hard task to do.

The beginning was a bit to get through but when it does, oh boy. It’s the “sweetheart” and “my wife” for me + the endearing one to one convos and constantly showing up. Gosh damn Noah, you're really setting the standards. This story restores my faith in invisible string theory x10. Also I relate to the want of having “perfect” in your life as much as Shay does (yelp).

Also I like how the plot has a slice of life feels and not just a run of the mill fictional marriage of convenience, childhood friends-to-lovers, single dad trope romance.

as was true with love redesigned by lauren asher, i liked everything, but that didn’t stop me from getting bored. maybe i should just accept that “fluffier”/more contemporary books aren’t my jam. they tend to feel too much like i’m forcing myself to participate in small talk.

This book was like a beanboozled jelly bean. For a few moments (or even the entire first half) you convince yourself that you scored: it's juicy pear flavored! But on second and third chew (i.e. the second half with zero plot other than two sexually repressed people going at it - completely ruining its charm) you realize that, nope: it's booger.
