Too many characters. I enjoyed the quick pace and the general story line but was confused by the number of characters and was unable to keep them straight. The story seemed too “busy”. The ending was unpredicted, but fell flat and left me unsatisfied. Probably a 2.5 star review but rounded up.

This was a quick read and just ok. You can figure out the who-done-it by about half way through without too much thinking. I think Bishop's writing has potential. He needs to work a bit harder to flesh out his characters -- as it stands they are a bit two dimensional. Base don this book, I probably won't seek out Mr. Bishop on purpose, but if another of his books falls in my lap or is offered for cheap and I don't have anything else to read, I will probably pick it up.

A neat and twisting tail of blackmail, with a likeable hero and enough twists to keep your attention, thoroughly enjoyable
