I hate every character she writes, but her plots are enough for me to keep going. The ending was still not the strongest but much better than The Sanitorium

This was a really enjoyable read. I was glad to see the author didn't talk about sweat nearly as much in this book, at least at the beginning. I'm also really glad that, despite being part of a crime novel series, it doesn't read like a procedural crime show. I think the new work partner was a good addition to the cast of characters, and I'm really hoping the future books don't go the betrayal route with that.
