"I was hoping we could add more hours, and then more hours, until they make a collection."
- secret child
- then & now
- age gap (he's nine years older)
- he falls first
- closed door
- dual pov
Premise: you spend one hour with a stranger, end up pregnant, and don't see him until five years later when your daughter is injured playing soccer and he's her surgeon.
Once Isaac meets Claire, he's all in. Aubrey is more hesitant, primarily due to her past. Her mother left her as a child, so she struggles to let people past her walls. Isaac is so patient and caring, tenderly pushing Aubrey but also ensuring she knows she's in control.
There's also a beautiful family foundation, with Aubrey and her dad's strong relationship and Isaac's mother giving Aubrey the motherly affection she's never had.

I came across this title on a social media reel and thought, why not. Glad I did. One hour for this couple leads to something neither one expected but everything they both needed, even if it took them a few years to find. 4.5 stars

So very good. Closed door romance
The writing is flawless and easy to follow. Definitely engaging the whole time, I bought and finished it on the same day!
I saw a fellow bookish friend share the tik tok this author posted about this book. Hook, line and sinker! I haven't read this type of story too often, but usually catch my interest. So yes, I dropped my current read and snagged it off KU.
I thought it started out super strong and I was hooked right away. I was eager to get to that reunion and it went a lot smoother than I expected. But as the story goes on, things kind of plateaued a little bit.
The pacing for their relationship felt right. Aubrey has some wounds left by her mother that hasn't healed. It takes over a huge part of the story and I was wondering when she'd start moving forward past that. I struggled with the heroine quite a bit because of this.
Issac was the absolute best, I'd say he transitioned into the father rather easily. Maybe too easily? But I loved his patience when it came to Aubrey.
For the most part, I did enjoy this one, but it didn't quite check all the boxes for me. But I'll definitely be checking out the backlist from this author!
