This was hard and challenging to read, and I needed many breaks. I felt so uncomfortable and anxious reading it bc Lauren’s always on edge, always on watch, always on alert to survive. Just when you start to get hopeful for some extended respite, it’s turned upside down.

Felt like an abrupt ending and also seems like all she wanted to do was

build a religious cult

which I guess makes sense considering her background. Bleak book, definitely feels like a possible reality which is very unfortunate.
