Listening to this via audio was a treat. Leslie expands a lot more on her thoughts and experiences & she isn’t afraid to hold back. She is passionate and vocal about what she cares about. She laughs, audibly cries and vents about her life experiences. A force to be reckoned with and I’m glad this memoir exists. There are some SNL tidbits / tea for those of you that were curious about her time on the show

YOU MUST LISTEN TO THE AUDIOBOOK! It’s the best I’ve ever listened to because it felt like she was talking to me directly. Leslie herself admitted that she barely read off the pages, haha! I laughed and I cried. It was really hard to listen to her audibly sob at times. She has lived a really full life. If I learned nothing else from this beautiful memoir, it’s to “stand in your pain.” Never be afraid or ashamed to be your authentic self. I love you always, Leslie.

I love hearing stories from SNL alum about their lives and what makes them funny. This book is made extra wonderful by the fact that Leslie Jones adds hours upon hours or backstory to her stories and Chris Rock reads the intro (and even interrupts to correct the author). Leslie’s story is equal parts funny and equal parts a lesson. She doesn’t shy away from what makes her a star and she’s unapologetic for who she is and where she came from.
