What a journey! I found out about this audiobook from a bookstagram friend who posted about their thoughts on the book. I knew of Leslie Jones from SNL but not much else, and boy did she take us on a journey in this audiobook!! The audiobook is much longer than the print book, which Jones herself acknowledges in the audiobook. This is because she speaks from the heart while using the book as a guide on which part of her life to discuss next. From her childhood traumas to her days on set of Ghostbusters, Leslie Jones is a fierce comedian and woman who fights for herself. Definitely laughed out loud in the car as I listened to it on my commute to and from work.

This was so great. Highly recommend the audio because she's not just reading what she wrote, she's telling the story. She cries, she laughs- mostly laughs, though there is some real pain here. It's so candid and you really get a sense of her as a person. I'm not a "super fan" of her work that I've seen (I say this just to n te that you don't need to be too like this book), nor do I usually choose memoirs or biographies, but always thought she seemed delightful, and she really, really is, and just a brilliant, fierce person. It starts to meander a bit as it reaches the more current phases of her life and kind of petered out at the end. But most of the book is SO interesting and she is so funny and heartfelt. A must read.

I love hearing stories from SNL alum about their lives and what makes them funny. This book is made extra wonderful by the fact that Leslie Jones adds hours upon hours or backstory to her stories and Chris Rock reads the intro (and even interrupts to correct the author). Leslie’s story is equal parts funny and equal parts a lesson. She doesn’t shy away from what makes her a star and she’s unapologetic for who she is and where she came from.
