With my rating system being:
<1 Finished it but wished I had DNFed instead. Several major criticisms.
1 Not the worst thing I've ever read but wouldn’t read it again; probably one major gripe.
2 Meh. No major sins but but don’t like it enough to buy a physical copy. It's fine. Just fine.
3 Liked it and will casually seek out a physical copy to have in my library
4 Thoroughly enjoyed it and have no major criticisms; will recommend to others, read again, and consider a special edition version
5 ABSOLUTELY FERAL FOR THIS BOOK, will not shut up about it, will maniacally and immediately seek out a special edition and/or bind one
I’m giving this a 2. I primarily read this because I adored the Clanlands series, but I think a large part of that compelling charm is the repartee between Sam and Graham. With that being missing here, so it felt a bit flat. I think this would be very encouraging/helpful if you’re an actor looking for encouragement or a hiker. Being neither of those things, perhaps this would have been lost on me regardless. But! Sam’s voice is lovely as always.

This was a nice, low-key memoir from one of my favorite actors. I love Sam Heughan in Outlander and I’ve read/listened to his first book about the history of Scotland. In this book, he’s walking the 96 mile West Highland Way, and he’s also inserting waypoints on his acting career. I love his voice, so the audio is a must. Nothing groundbreaking, but I really enjoyed his way of looking back at his life so far. It does make me want to get out and hike!
