It was very nice to hear and learn about Sam’s upbringing. I do admire his perseverance.
We listened to this one and really liked it. The only problem was, his voice was so soothing that it kept making us tired.
My on the road book this week
I quite liked the way he was open about his struggles, his life and everything.
The man behind the actor.
The way he talked about the fungi made me laugh every time. (I guess people in the train will think I‘m a weirdo).
It‘s a great book about Sam‘s life up till now and makes him even more likeable

This felt like catching up with a friend at the pub swapping stories mixed with a vlog (the last few minutes of each chapter). Sam’s voice is warm and inviting , inserting humour that made me laugh out loud. Often. Well deserved AudioFile Earphone Award! Now I want to see Sam in his true element it seems: the stage.
If you’re able to, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook while reading along. Sam Heughan includes audio recordings of his trip on The West Highland Way.
I do enjoy when an author reads their own work.

A really well-done story. As the author begins a very long hike through the Scottish highlands, he details the ups and downs of such an adventure. While in tandem, he reflects on the ups and downs of his life.
From acting fails, to theatre roles, to absent parents, and to landing the role of Jamie Fraser.
It was a beautifully written story.
I struggled a bit with the formatting of the story. Told in six days, it made it difficult to find a stopping point and felt like trudging through. I also struggled with the audio catching up to when he was talking in the past/present.
However the authors audio narration was 🔥🔥🔥

I've tried to read Heughan's books a couple of times and have set them down. I don't like when a narrator "acts" the book. And he definitely does. It really takes me out of the book.
