Bosch is still my favorite character in the detective genre, but this was my first Virgil Flowers and I approve. This is a very solid whodunnit with more red herrings than you could count on both hands. I wish more authors woukd write this kind of book, but a cat and mouse game where we have chapters from the killer's perspective seems to be more prevalent. This is a mystery though and it's done well even if the bad guy's motive and id may be considered a letdown by some. Overall I enjoyed it.

Not up to Sanford's usually high standard. Contrived dialogue and way too many characters slapping their foreheads in why didn't I think of that moments. It wasn't bad but kinda sloppy

Virgil does it again. Besides catching the main bad guy he nabs a couple of other offenders on the way to the main show. His character is so well crafted, it's like I've known him for years. The mystery is also well crafted allowing the stars of the show to lay out some good police work. When is the next one?
