A really good entry into the Dalrymple series. Funny and entertaining, it does get a little lost at the end, but overall keeps up a strong level of mystery and verve.

I've read a few books now about the trauma carried on by soldiers because of the treatment of deserters and pacifists during WWI, so this wasn't new to me, but it was presented well and as part of a well-structured mystery. Plenty of domestic bliss, police dry wit, British jolliness to move things along.
