very beautiful and poetic book, especially certain chapters. we read some chapters for school, so i had to finish the rest on my own so i got a little confused for some. but overall really symbolic.

Well written. Even poetic at times. Simultaneously, often hard to read because of the horrifying nature of war, particularly Vietnam. I still can't figure out how much is fiction and how much is either completely or partially based on his own Vietnam experiences. He calls it a novel, but the main character is the author, and he was in Vietnam. I should research it, but I probably won't. Very glad I read it, but not one you "enjoy" sitting down to read.

So devastating but so impactful. Cried multiple times throughout, and could really feel an understand the soldiers. So insightful on Vietnam and the impacts it had on so many. This book can change the world.
