The Lies That Bind by Emily Giffin kept my attention from beginning to end. I read for enjoyment and this book checked all of the boxes. It was difficult to put down because the storyline kept surprising me with changes. This is a story of love and loss that will pull at your heartstrings along with giving a lot of reasons to smile. The storyline centers around 9/11, something near and dear to my heart due to a family member being there. This book is one that once you start, you will not want to stop, make sure you have enough time to be swept up. Is the author an adulteress? Why are all her books about cheating and how it’s not that bad. I know things are complicated but her writing feels like she is grappling with some unresolved guilt.

Emily Giffin has done it again! The story of Cecily, Matthew, Grant, Amy, Scottie, and Byron was so beautifully interwoven and well-written. I was entranced by this tale of love, loyalty, and lies. Big lies. Very big lies. Lies that lead to heartbreak, a possible shot-gun wedding, and even prison. The ending was a little abrupt but overall, it was a great story.
At the start, I wasn't 100% sold because you know what's coming from the description on the cover and yet the main character is blind to it, which is endlessly frustrating. But then it picked up and while the twists and turns should have been completely absurd (and one too many), I couldn't stop reading it! It got more and more crazy and I loved it. I had no idea what ending I wanted, but I was happy with the one that was written. Also, the Giffin character cameo in this one was awesome!!!
A quick, light read but not as cookie-cutter as you’d think
