4.5 stars. I’ve loved Anita Kelly’s novellas and their debut novel was equally delightful!
I think this is the first time I've read a book with a non binary character in it, at least as a main character, so that was cool! I didn't really care for the TV show aspect, but I don't care for that in most books I've read with reality/competition shows as part of the plot. I loved Delilah's mom in the end of the book so much
As for the romance very cute! Just a little too insta Love for me but still cute

This was cute!
I appreciated the non-binary rep. As a genderqueer person, it’s exciting to see romances that don’t follow the binary. I thought the book was really sensitive about its descriptions of London and how it addressed them throughout.
I liked the cooking show plot line, but would’ve enjoyed having more nuanced descriptions of the competition and food - or even seeing some recipes included. It felt skimmed over a lot of the time.
I don’t particularly care for stories where queer characters must struggle to gain acceptance from their family, since I usually read romances to escape from the harsh reality of life, so it lost some of its appeal there.
Overall, though, this was a sweet book and I enjoyed the read.

Dahlia and London are both contestants on a cooking show with a $100K prize. Despite a rocky beginning and personal challenges — Dahlia is broke and feeling lost & London is nervous about coming out as non-binary on national television —they fall in luuuuurve.
This book was sweet and spicy and adorable. It was quite a switcheroo from my usual murdery business & I loved it. I really enjoyed reading a queer love story with a non-binary main character, and between this book and The Ex Hex, I guess I’m now a romance fan? Definitely a fan of Anita Kelly!
* thanks to Grand Central Publishing for the NetGalley review copy. This comes out January 18th (and is also a Book of the Month pick for January)!

Loved!!! I’m not one for romance, but this queer love story had me in my feels.
Dahlia, trying to find herself after her divorce, has quit her job and headed to LA to compete on a cooking show. London, has announced themselves to be nonbinary and plans to use the prize money to help youth like them. However, these two find themselves falling for each other.
Touching queer romantic comedy, though a bit heavy on the sex for me.

I wanted to love this book. I chose it for Pride Month and I appreciated that it discussed a non-binary person and their struggles. However, this book did not have enough action. I found it boring. It was written as if we were following the characters day to day life sometimes.
Cute, full of cooking and food. Aromance between awkward people is going to be awkward, and this progressed believably and sweetly. Fun, light read.
More romance books with sapphic non-binary leads!! I loved it, as a trans masc non-binary person. It made me feel seen and loved, and I annotated my copy with dozens of me’s and relatable’s. It was cute and the characters were likable, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, trans rom com.
