A fitting sequel to ‘Brooklyn’, Colm Toibin’s novel is poignant without being sentimental.  It is a novel of hope, regrets and what might have beens.  I spent the novel hoping that each character would have a happy ending even as I knew this would be impossible.

Doesn’t rival Brooklyn but really enjoyable listen.
The ending however was frustrating and the way Tony’s family treated Eilis throughout the book actually made me so so angry. I hope Jim follows to the US and Eilis divorces that horrible family. Also yay hopefully Eilis’ mom will move to the US too!

The characters are all so indecisive and they frustrated me. I had high hopes as Brooklyn is a fond memory.
Maybe I've moved on in style preference. The sentences didn't flow, they were informative and short but lacked depth.

Very much enjoyed the follow up to Brooklyn but glad I read them back to back and didn't have to endure the wait. Adore the setting now mainly in an Irish village and the different family and friend dynamics. Can understand why fans were disappointed by the fate of one of the main characters.
