I did not read Brooklyn, never the less Long Island was intriguing and I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the writing style, short sentences and uncomplicated words, humbly written. A lovely summer read, it kept me hooked. I would love a part 3 to this story.

I read this author for the first time to decide if I'd like to see him in person. I won't be doing that. The story was ok-ish. I guess you have to be ready to believe that people won't be truthful and forthcoming about what they're doing or feeling in order for a story to have some suspense, but this book took that a little too far for me. And the ending was truly lacking.

Mature exploration of old and new love, responsibilities and trust. It was about families and loyalty and the characters were complex and seemed real. The ending was messy and inconclusive. It was great.
