I really wanted to like this one. I see that I liked Brooklyn quite a bit. But, this one fell flat for me. The premise was definitely interesting - a chance to find out what happened. Unfortunately, I disliked all of the characters. None of them made interesting choices, none cared about the others. Bummer.

Colm Toibin can certainly write a good story and can capture the complexities of relationships. I read this in one sitting and enjoyed it but I’m slightly frustrated that the book finishes before we know what happens to Jim, Eilis and Nancy. I need to know!!!!
