ok so historically i'm a little bit of a dostoevsky fan & surprise , this was rly good. It's an excellent little dip into his style, and while REALLy grim & autobiographical thematically, I think reading it is lots of fun, especially when THE GRANDMOTHER shows up. my main stipulation is that she ought to be played by edith massey.

What can I say about The Gambler that can't be said about any other work by Dostoyevsky? He captures the contradictions and complexities of human behavior and human psychology like none other, weaving a tale that's both fascinating and entertaining.
