Wow. Where do I even start with this one? I absolutely loved this book, from start to finish. I've always loved Greek Mythology, and this book shows us a retelling of the mostly untold story of Medea. At first I didn't even realise how her story was connected to Briseis, as the only clue to the link with Greek Mythology are the names of the Colchis family, but towards the end I was giddy with learning more and more of what transpired in past and present. 

The 'plant magic' Briseis inherited kept me in wonder throughout the book and made me want to draw all the plants and herbs mentioned in my novel. Perhaps I'll even do just that when I reread this incredible story once more. I'm genuinly relieved I don't have to wait for the sequel and can buy in when I get home from holiday because I simply must know what happens next!

Ps. I didn't think it was possible to like this book more than I did the author's debut novel, but alas, This Poison Heart has been promoted to my favourite book of 2022 thus far!

I loved this book!! I loved the combination of mythology and plant magic. Loved that the real world problems of any family were included to make this feel like a really contemporary fantasy. I loved the elements of humour and loved the conversations and interactions between people. I will for sure be reading book 2!!
