Lisa Gardner happens to be one of my favorite authors and I was thrilled to be back with Frankie Elkin solving another missing persons case.

In this book, the missing persons case we’re dealing with brings us to death row to meet serial killer Kaylee Pierson who is also “The Beautiful Butcher.” Kaylee needs Frankie’s help to find her little sister who has been missing for twelve years. She believes that her sister Lea was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend billionaire Sanders MacManus after a violent fight between the two where he put her in the hospital. A letter she recently received from Lea asking for help has driven her to request Frankie head to Hawaii to a lodge owned by MacManus for a rescue.

With her skills, Frankie infiltrates the lodge by pretending to be someone looking for work. No sooner has she arrived on the island before the remnants of a woman’s body are discovered. To make things worse it seems that a member of the working crew is sabotaging things at the resort putting everyone’s lives at risk. Frankie begins to suspect everyone around her. She also begins to realize that nothing on the island is as it seems after meeting Lea and she has her job cut out for her trying to solve so many mysteries at once.

What I liked about it: I love all the amazing characters we were introduced to! Anne and Trudy the cooks stole my heart and Vaughn and Charlie were interesting characters that I couldn’t help but want to know more about. This story is so detailed and action-packed that I finished it in one day because I didn’t want to stop. I really enjoyed this mystery that Frankie had to solve and I can’t wait to see where she ends up next!

As always Lisa Gardner kept me on the edge of my seat throughout this whole book. So many twists and turns that will keep you second-guessing to the very last page. If you’re someone who enjoys stories about missing persons, serial killers, mysteries, and aren’t afraid of spiders then this is the book for you!

The last 120 pages were so unbelievable and far fetched then the ending was completely unsatisfying. This did not read like a Lisa Gardner book. It felt like any other random thriller, not mystery, that was going for shock value over making any sense.
