⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars for this star-crossed romance!

It’s genre-bending, but the main theme is ROMANCE, and I have to say that it’s the best story I have EVER read from that particular genre. If you like Tragic Lovers, please replace The Fault in our Stars with For All Time. It is sooooo much better.

It could have gotten 4.5 stars or even more, if not for one huge flaw: the ANSWER. You see, when you read the basic premise of “reincarnated lovers travelling through time”, the big question to be answered is: Why and how did it start happening to them and how will it end???

For the entire duration of the story, I was anticipating the BIG REVEAL, the answer to this question. And it got nothing but confusing. Instead of providing one or two possible answers, the author introduces or hints at a DOZEN possible answers. My head was swimming. I will note down and count the actual amount of “answers” next time. I’m using quotation marks because even after listening to all of the audiobook, I’m still not 100% sure what the answer was. Maybe some of the hints were misdirects? I don’t get it. I’m also seeing reviews and some scenes talking about “timelines”. I thought they were always living on one, or at most two, timelines, in the correct chronological order. The confusion is real and makes the story lose a star.

Overall, we have a fantastic story here because of:
- creative, multi-faceted, diverse settings and experiences
- interesting characters
- excellent writing
- discussion of many relevant topics from various genres and areas of life
- intrigue that made me listen to the audiobook in less than a week
- the absolutely stellar, stunning narration by Joniece Abbott-Pratt, which is the reason I found For All Time in the first place.

I recommend it to everyone who wants to hear a love story and isn’t put out by a little confusion about how the premise actually works! If you want everything to be explained and come together perfectly, I wouldn’t recommend it, because it’s robbing the logical, analytical part of me of its peace of mind!

Excerpt from the review on my website:

Throughout these “episodes,” the reader follows Tamar and Fayard throughout different points of history, in other moments in time. No matter where they pop up, even within a space-opera future, these teens always find each other, and their stories draw one in. Miles reveals her skill with weaving her lead characters into fully-formed backdrops where you are immersed in these settings, even the speculative futuristic ones.

These time cycles keep happening for Tamar and Fayard, sometimes with only a faint awareness that they might have known each other before. Until one moment when they discover it’s not just dreams they have of each other—they’re remembering.

And the ending is *chef’s kiss*. I won’t spoil it here.

Without a doubt, Miles understands how to pace a story. During these pandemic years, I have had difficulty concentrating on reading, so I truly appreciated the short chapters. They were enough for me to take in, feeling I accomplished reading for the evening, and they left me excited to continue on. I know there are many folks out there who would gobble up this novel in a weekend, though. The rhythm is fantastic. No lulls.

For All Time is classified as young adult (YA), but I recommend it for anyone who used to be a young adult too!
