soo... i started this because i really liked the TV-series and thought that then i'd love the book for sure, but i was kinda disappointed i was really slow getting started and it kept a slow pace through the entire book. I usually don't like thoose kind of books were i constantly doubt everyone and this was no exemption, especially sergei who i found kinda creepy. all in all it was only okay and i hope the series improve with the next books.
2.5
So the writing isn’t great and a lot of stuff made me roll my eyes. Like she’s like oh he’s two years older so he can watch porn...? Like what? Also Chloe was completely chill about everything that happened which is so unrealistic. Also her friends are low key annoying. That being said it is a fun-ish quick read. Also literally nothing was explained.

Chloe is a typical girl... a bit boy crazy and acts like a teenager by fighting with her mom and cuts class once in a while. Around her 16th birthday she started noticing strange changes -- a bit cat-like really, including the claws. She feels alone with these changes and doesn't understand where they came from or if there is anyone else like her. She stops worrying so much about that once she finds out that someone is out to kill her because of what she is -- whatever that may be.
I started reading this book for the same reason many others did. I saw the television show on Netflix and thought it was really cute. Then, the show was cancelled after the first season, leaving the viewers with a terrible cliff hanger. My logical solution, "I'm going to read the book then." Like many books, it is very different from it's counterpart. That was a bit disappointing and in the first book my questions weren't answered. Also, the book is more sexual and has a moderate amount of cussing in it that I didn't enjoy. I was surprised that the TV series was cleaner than the book. That was a first. Overall, I did enjoy the story and want to read the next in the series to find out what happens.

I really enjoyed this book. It was action packed, a bit of mystery thrown in and some romance going on in the side lines. I had watched the ABC Family series before reading the book, so I liked how much more we learned about Chloe and The Order than we did in the show. It was different too, Chloe is more hard than she was in the show and her friends are a bit different too. I am looking forward to the next book.
It took this book quite a while to hit its stride. Only in the last few chapters does it really get going. Not the best writing. Love the show so much more than this book. However, the "About the Author" is amazing.
A 3.5 rating. Decided to reread some of my books since they are currently overflowing from my bookshelf, and surprisingly, this one held up.
Okay, now, of course, it has some of the average YA stereotypes, a main character who at times can be really shallow and selfish, and quite a few name-listing (IKEA, Buffy, and a bunch of others that I didn't recognize), but in the end I. JUST. DIDN'T. CARE.
What can I say? It was good. Not literary good, but a solid entertaining, quick read. I reread it in a day, and that's something. Now, since it is a reread, maybe I'm a bit biased, but I haven't read it in a while, and it wasn't a big favorite of mine by any means.
And as far as the shallowness/selfishness goes, I feel like this is a book best read by middle-schoolers, and what middle-schooler isn't a bit shallow or selfish at times?
Besides, despite the wish-fulfillment minus the dying (which wish-fulfillment I think can have value too, especially in the hell-hole known as middle school when it can be nice when SOMETHING goes right for once), this book does address the awkwardness, jealousy, insecurity, left-out-ness, and hormones that comes with being a fifteen year old. And, as well, it's hard getting your first period and being a cat-woman, you know.
Granted, I would have preferred her to be a little older if she's going to have almost-sex with a twenty-something in a club parking lot, but you can't have everything, I suppose.
So, this might not have sounded like a recommendation so far, but it is. It got me over my book rut, and it's light, making it perfect for summer (even though the weather dares to be rainy right now). It was funny, and the boys were oh-so-sexy, and despite its flaws, it is really easily likable in my opinion.

Plot:
The plot is refreshing and mostly kept my attention. I kind of felt like the scenes with the hunters after Chloe were on the weak side. As for her exploring her powers--that was pretty cool.
Setting:
San Francisco works well for the setting.
Characters:
Chloe was portrayed well. She definitely had her flaws, her hang-ups, the hormones of a teenager, but she was also somewhat relatable.
I also liked both her love interests, something that is usually rare.
Relationships:
I'm not usually for love triangles most of the time because they are often done poorly, but this one was believable and I liked both love interests.
Chloe's relationship with her friends (who decide to suddenly start dating) was interesting but didn't seem as deep as I would have liked. It seemed a bit odd that her friends wouldn't be at her side more after the accident.
I also liked Chloe's relationship with her mother. It was far from normal and definitely flawed, but it had good development.
Writing/Voice:
I liked the writing and the voice, though the first chapter page's enlarged font was a bit unsettling.
Ending:
Very abrupt/fast.
Overall, I liked it, but not as much as I thought I would. Unsure if I will continue with the series, but maybe. It was entertaining enough, but overall just didn't hook me.
I wish I hadn't seen the TV show before reading this. Still loved it though.
