The Silent Wife

Was wrapped in from the start

This gritty novel of violence against women is a raw but revelatory exploration -- chilling, detailed, and difficult. The relationship between GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton continues to evolve, complicated by a cold case involving a corrupt law enforcement team led by Jeffrey Tolliver, Sara's murdered first husband. As always, Slaughter's characters, plot, and pacing are exceptional but this is a really rough road to travel.

i like a lot about this book. the police procedural part is great, albeit gratuitously grisly. the love stories, i thought, only got in the way. and there was too little of Will Trent. he's the most interesting character in the whole series. sadly, he gets short shrift here.

My emotions need 7-10 business days to recover
