i love karin slaughter but this was her worst book yet. none of the “evidence” made sense against the main suspect and no one thought to use their brain cells to look into any of it.
somehow, between all the cops and agents, no one ever thought to themselves “hmmm, maybe the convicted pedophile ISNT guilty of raping and murdering GROWN ADULT WOMEN??? not once was this ever brought up by anyone at any time. this entire book was the largest plot hole ever
. i genuinely don’t understand how anyone could’ve read this and thought, yeah, that makes sense!

I loved it and I would give this a 4.5 to 5.0! I’ve realized I may not be super picky with books and tend to enjoy many types and I’m probably generous with my ratings.

I listened to the audiobook (the only way I’ve “read” books the past 3-4 years) really enjoyed this latest Karin Slaughter book as I have enjoyed all of her other books! I have listened all of the Grant county series and Will Trent series in order, except for the first one a listened to a few years ago before I knew enough to realize the order. While they can stand on their own, I highly recommend reading them in order starting with Grant County and then moving to Will Trent because it’s an timeline progression with many of the same and overlapping characters. It will be more meaningful and make more sense to start at the beginning.

I have also listened to almost all of her standalone novels and really enjoyed those too and couldn’t stop listening for hours. I love the suspense and the way she weaves the stories and the details unfold. I enjoy most of the characters, except for Lena, who is insufferable.. probably because she is supposed to be.
