I rarely write reviews, but I just finished this book and am still soaking in the afterglow. Like several other reviewers, I came upon this book from the author's Kevin Connor mysteries. While I enjoyed the steamy gay eroticism of those, I really admired the author's ability to create likable, interesting, and relatable characters. I actually held off on reading this book because I enjoyed them so much and I didn't want to run out of things by Mr. Sherman to read! This book has a few (minor, organic) gay points, but definitely draws more heavily on the character development and their relationships. Plus their interesting (and rationally thought-out) superpowers. Generally, it has aspects of a coming-of-age tale, but with more complexity and healthy disillusionment than those tales often capture. There were two distinct points reading this novel where I felt my eyes welling up, and I am *not* someone prone to tears. (like even with death, a broken engagement, etc.)
It's not perfect. (what book is?!) There were a few give-aways to future plot points which seemed a skosh obvious, two places where the wrong character was named (in pivotal scenes), and a bit of the world mechanic that had me arching a skeptical eyebrow. (although the OS comparison helped me with that a lot - book reference) But overall I happily devoured this book and now am left wanting more! I hope that Mr. Sherman will not hold us in suspense too much longer!

Ok, so I dont normally do reviews, but im rereading this book for the millionth time and I feel like I should. I love the banter(I think thats the word) between Carlos and Angelica. Its funny, and its something a normal person would say. The romance isnt insta-love, thank god, and everythings pretty realistic.(For a book where the two main charecters can read minds and speak to electronics)
