I rate this 5 stars, not because I am Team Aspen, but because the book itself was good and well-written. Like The Guard and the Selection books Kiera has written, this one is beautiful as well. :)

I liked Aspen in the first main book The Selection but then he just became a lost puppy following Mer around begging to be with her. Very desperate, made me not like him

It was ok. I think Aspen is a bit of a sissy. It was interesting to read his POV but he's just super possessive. I thought so when I was reading The Elite, but reading this I guess I could see where he was coming from. But even then, his thoughts are possessive, like he had first dibs on her. I know he loves her, but he needs to let her go. Sometimes love is taking a step back. I felt like he was trying to shove the relationship they used to have down her throat. He is a good, strong, kind, and brave man, but IDK. He's just to emotional for me. I have my heart on Maxon.

While I was reading the series I got really curious about Aspen's feelings and thoughts about Maxon and America together. Finally I got my answers through this novella. I saw how Aspen really loved America. At first it seems like he is being selfish because he expressed how much he wanted America to be with him, and he also thinks that Maxon is not good for America. But eventually I saw that Aspen only wants what's best for America, because he loves her so much. Either way, I think that whether America ended up with Aspen, I would still have love it because he also deserves America the way Maxon does.

I love these books. I'm a Maxon girl, so I only gave this book 4 stars, but I really liked it.

How could this end before we even hear about Lucy?! And the stable man? Man, this one was definitely too short. Aspen had his chance with America and his interventions into America and Maxon’s love is irritating to me, so I would have loved to hear more about his happily every after.
