When I review short story collections that all have different authors I like to review each alone. This can be tough as I normally don't have much to say about each story. I put this on my list for February as I know I'll be meeting up with a few of the authors at the Houston Author Bash this month. Sorry about the length of each review, I try to give my thoughts without spoiling the story.

Time:

This was an interesting start to the short story compile. I have previously read Andrea Barbosa's poetry collection (Holes in Space Link). I truly enjoyed it, as I also enjoyed this story. It left just enough to the readers imagination. It puts a different spin on what most people think of Vegas. It's not all about gambling after all! Kelly realizes a lot about her life as it comes to a turning point.

Rolling The Dice In Sin City:

I enjoyed this story as well. It gave a solid ending to the story while also providing you enough narrative to imagine how the writer got from point A to point B.

Sun Day:

This story was very thrilling. I enjoyed his idea of the end of the world. It's not what I would have expected. I'm very excited to read more of Dan O'Connor's work. I have a book of his on my calendar for next month! I adore the fatherly love mixed with the raw thoughts of the end of the world. I was a bit sad when this story was over.

My Favorite Pet:

I'm left wanting more from this story. I would read a novel about what happens next. I don't have much to say besides that I really enjoyed this story!

The End:

Another story that just blew me away. I could have easily kept reading more of this story. I liked the interaction between John and George. I feel like George was a little overly innocent, but I loved the story. This

Reverse Slot Machine:

I can't say that this was my favorite story. I liked how descriptive the writer was. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Peacefull Perspective:

I was happy this featured older characters and talked about mental illness. It was an okay story. I am not a huge fan of religious twists on books, but it was well written.

Absolutely Equitable:

This was another story that wasn't really my cup of tea. I found it a bit hard to follow and felt it jumped around too much. The writing was good, it just wasn't for me.

Final Thoughts:

I liked most of these and found new authors that I would be interested in following; That's one of the reasons I read short story collections. I enjoyed the fact that most of the stories didn't revolve around the normal thought of Vegas (Sex, Drug, Gambling). I am going to give this collection four stars.
