I’m kinda pissed at myself for taking a 7th month hiatus from this series. I had tears in my eyes majority of this book. Everything I wanted to happen at the end of the third book, happened in this one! And I just hope everything that I want to happen in the fourth book actually happened. Sarah J. Maas never disappoints.

Wow, just wow
This series really picks up the pace in this book. The planning, the cunning, the twists and turns and cunning of the characters are second to none.
I loved Lysandra and Evangeline storyline. It was weaved beautifully into the forming Terrasen court.
The slow burn building romance between Rowan and Aelin is so frustrating but just has you hanging on to see where they go next.
The witches storyline developed and started to interlink with the main storyline which made it a lot easier/nicer to read IMO. The character development of Manon and her relationship with Elide was a really nice sub-plot. I’m not looking forward to seeing the witches storyline develop

Spectacular

Lots of things are wrapped up in this book but there’s definitely more to go! All the plot twists will have you on the edge of your seat for sure. The sneak peek of Empire of Storms was exciting.

March 2022:
Such a brilliant book. The last 150 pages or so I just could not put it down.
Fantastic action scenes and goosebump worthy writing as well as emotional moments.
The interwoven relationships between characters continue to be complex, well portrayed and believable.
The blossoming romance between Aelin and Rowan is everything.
I’m so grateful for female characters with personality.
Love love loved it.
Satisfactory ending? Yes.

Reread Feb 2023: 5 stars! I absolutely loved this reread, I ate it up. QoS is one of my favourite SJM books for sure. I frequently had goosebumps which I think was made even more palpable because where I’d read them before, I was in a constant state of anticipation for certain scenes in particular. I feel like we all know the ones I mean.
The glow up in SJM’s writing style between HoF and QoS is crazy good and I’m here for it. I think it was around this time that ACOTAR was also released so it makes sense.
I just love all the characters SO MUCH, I love all their story arcs, their complexities and how they all start to fit together. The villains in this series are SO GOOD and are given so much depth and I appreciate that a lot.
Rereading this was just such a comfort blanket for me. Adore.
