I loved this book and will be telling everyone to read it. I went into this blind knowing nothing of this story or walk. When I started reading this it sparked conversations with older family members that gave me feedback from what they remembered about the walk. The stories and relationships built along the walk kept me intrigued and wanting to read more and more. There was not one chapter that I didn't find myself cheering for Barbara.

I was able to read an ARC of this. I recently read her son’s book about their road trip to relive her journey so I thought this would be an interesting perspective. At the beginning, I enjoyed the alternating perspectives - the story is told from the start of the journey forward and from her childhood forward in alternating chapters. But toward the end the present overtook the past and it was very awkward. Overall is was pretty good, but the end took away from it for me.
