While this is book two in this series it worked well as a standalone. Some of the characters were underdeveloped, probably due to the fact I missed book one, but were interesting in their own right. This book did have some points where they portrayed the successful female copper as angry, resentful and hars to work with which didn't sit well with me. The underlying crime was interesting however the plot didn't do it justice, interweaving several stories and missing the mark on all of them.

Too many characters and plots in such a small book. It made the reading difficult because of this and quite dull in the end.

DCI John Blizzard is called to Hafton city cemetery as a grave has been desecrated - a grave of the victims of an unsolved case from fifteen years ago. Using this act as a pretext, Blizzard opens up the cold case as he is convinced that the father is the guilty person. But this case only scratches the surface of the crimes in the town.
An interesting and enjoyable well-written crime story with some believeable characters.
