It’s hit or miss for me with t. Kingfisher. I don’t like this story very much. The pacing was very weird to me, at first it dragged a lot and the last few chapters were so rushed that I was totally confused by it.
Sam, the main character was nice enough I guess, but her constant inner Monolog annoyed me. She constantly reminds herself how clever and fat she is. How weird is that? At least she wasn’t ashamed about the later thing, thank good! I couldn’t have read it, if it contained fat-shaming. Another thing that irked me about her, was the unaddressed alcoholism. She drinks everyday from afternoon till she goes to bed. Yes, that is totally normal behaviour for a lot of people and I’m all about characters with flaws and unhealthy behaviour, but it wasn’t addressed in any way and I found it kind of triggering. So if it’s something you struggle with, be aware?

I liked the creepy and mysterious beginning more than the action packed end. The narrator is very funny and relatable.
