Martin Robinson does a great job of analysing the damaging effects of globalism and individualism that make the world our neighbourhood but cause most humans to not be rooted in any one area. By seeking to return to a "parish" view of one's own local community, Robinson seeks to reframe what mission looks like in western context todays. 'Simply doing better what one has always done may not be enough. Fresh eyes, fresh leadership, and so a fresh expression of mission and Christian community, may be needed...' (p. 64).
'Mission cannot be conducted on the basis of commuting - it has to take context and place seriously, sufficiently seriously that where one lives is as important as the programmes that one might initiate' (p. 60).
