The pacing of this murder mystery was off--the first sixty percent of it felt very slow and plodding, and it wasn't until the latter 40% of the book that things got going. Also, not many of the characters are particularly engaging; this is at least in part a consequence of having so many characters of importance to the plot. It earns two stars because the plot itself, and the styling of the mystery, are rather unique and interesting of themselves. It was worth reading just for the unusual spin on the typical murder-mystery formula.
