The premise was so promising, but it just fell so flat for me. I really hated Marynka, the romance was stale, and the writing was really repetitive. The tone was also inconsistent. Like, one minute the girls were monsters and do some horrifying stuff, but then the next they'd be playfully bantering and falling over each other like they're in a rom-com. I practically glazed over the last half of reading this because I could predict what was going to happen next and didn't care, whatsoever.

Overall, boring and wouldn't recommend.

Two monsters who look like innocent girls head to the royal city of Warszów to win the heart of the prince. Pure hearts contain strong power and Marynka wants it to prove herself to her grandmother, whereas Zosia wants it to gain her freedom. Both these girls are villains in disguise with an intense rivalry that makes capturing the prince complicated.

I wanted to love this book more but im struggling with young adult books. Teen me would have totally been obsessed though, so I am rating this higher for them. The main characters in this book are villainous which of course, sold me instantly. You get to see both Marynka and Zosiawith perspectives which is great, especially with all the parallels. I loved how far both of these characters were willing to go to get what they wanted. I loved them.

The romance is subtle and they don't actually become a thing until the end of the book, which is just way too long for me. This felt like a mix of Killing Eve and The Cruel Prince but not quite. I loved how Marynka hateloves and how Zosia is completely different than you expect. I enjoyed watching them grow closer and begin to question what they actually want. The side characters were cute and brought some humanity to the story.

Overall I thought this is a great villain romance story, especially since it's LGBTQIA+. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was an adult book, it could have been way hotter. But that doesn't earn it fewer stars. This was a beautiful book with great characters and an interesting plot and I totally recommend it. I do wish there was more romance but was happy with how everything played out.

I am in love with this book.
