This book is the perfect fantasy Sapphic enemies to lovers!! Two rival witches facing off to steal a prices heart is such an action packed and beautiful cast of characters! Plus I love morally grey protagonists!!

„Północ. Zawsze ta Północ. Zawsze w jej myślach, zawsze w jej snach." SKOŃCZYŁAM I JAKIE TO BYŁO DOBRE??? Od dzisiaj jestem fanką Zosi i Marynki dosłownie one są tak iconic że przez całą książke miałam uśmiech na twarzy, w dodatku sam system magiczny i Warszowo skradło mi serce

“You don’t notice the bars of the cage,” Beata said, “unless you start to throw yourself against them."

I got this book in my subscription from The Bookish Box. I admittedly hadn't read many of the books I've received so far with my subscription, and because this one had the most gorgeous cover (the dust jacket is pretty, but the actual cover is astounding), I decided to go with this one.

I was super excited when I found out this book was 1. about witches and 2. about GAY witches. What could be better than that?

My only complaint is that while I love a good standalone novel, I feel like sometimes the character development and relationships between characters can be slightly rushed and I definitely did feel that way about the love story here. That being said, I still really enjoyed this book and the romance between the two witches.

I was worried at first that I would get too caught up on trying to pronounce all the names correctly in my head, but I put a bookmark in the pronunciation page and after flipping back to it a few times, I had everything down (but don't ask me to pronounce the out loud).

The atmosphere of this book felt really dark and whimsical, and I really loved that so much. I'm so happy that I got this book in my box because I'm honestly not sure I would have picked it up otherwise. I've already recommended it to a few of my friends that I know will love it.

super interesting concept! the dynamic between the girls has been so fun to read (the true definitions of rivals to lovers) and i like the long history that they had. the magic system is also interesting, and i like the flashbacks to the grandmothers and the abusive houses that midnight grew up in; it adds a lot of character depth.

but the writing style made is so difficult to listen to the audiobook. there were a bit too many characters, all of them with complicated names + nicknames, which made it difficult to keep track of everyone.

also, the girls were kinda bad at their jobs?? by the point i finished reading, they failed sooo many times, and it felt a bit exhausting to keep reading the same things on loops.

This was a bit too young for me, but I really liked the different approach to this kind of story and the scenarios it set up
