I found it really beautifully written, and it was haunting. It did not have the ending I expected.

I can't say I enjoyed the experience of reading this, but it was well-written and well-crafted. The characters were very nuanced and flawed, and I experienced a lot of emotions while going through the story. It's not a feel-good tale, but it is well done.

A painful and compelling read, Kuang took real life war and expressed pain so acutely in this book it was hard to look away. I both loved and disliked Rin, and the painful choices she made.
