It's hard for me to rate this book. On one hand I want to say I didn't find it appealing as it's predecessor, The Halfling's Gem and how exhausting the reoccurring battle with Artemis Enteri is after 3 books. But on the other hand I couldn't put this book down and given how evenly matched Enteri and Drizzt are the prolonged battle is very fitting. And the sads. Don't get me started on the sads.

I’ll always appreciate the introspective attitude of Drizzt that allows for the reader to consider their own life and adventure. The story of these adventures continues and gives the reader and write more time to explore their motivations.

How does he do it?
I don't know if this series will ever top the charm of the first trilogies conclusion, but the hits just keep coming.
Salvatore might be a bit of a bare bones writer but he is an absolute master of plotting. I can't ever stop wanting to know what happens next. Such lovely adventures.

There's a difference between character development and killing a character. This book chose the wrong one for the story it was telling.
This is book 7 in a series. So many of the characters have a history with each other I want to start at book 1
