What an amazing read, took me right out of a reading slump. Where do I begin? I guess I'll start by mentioning how well-written each character is. Ash is such a badass female lead. It was refreshing reading about a woman that not only knows what she wants and works towards it but also knows when she's wrong and owns it. Riordon (I had such a hard time pronouncing his name correctly!) made me love him and made me hate him at the same time in the beginning. It's safe to say that I hold nothing but love in my heart for him now. I loved how expressive he was despite everything he has gone through and everything he had initially intended to do. Brynach (definitely have a Bry bias) is everything a girl could ever ask for! I enjoyed how open he was with the idea of Riordan being in their lives if it meant that Ash would be happy. I loved the bromance that has started between Rory and Bry!. Just some honorable mentions to Trent and Lettie such amazing friends and people!

The diversity in the book is amazing! Bi rep, Gay rep, lesbian rep, plus-size rep, pan rep! it was so pleasing to read.
Another thing that I enjoyed is how major of a topic consent was and I was living! I'm invested, I can't wait to see Brynach's POV!

If you like witchy books, fae stories, and romance with good communication this is the book for you. It's a great twist on fae mythology and the typical witch magic tropes. The characters were loveable and the relationships were believable. I can't wait for the next book!

This was a light and easy fantasy read, which is definitely something I needed. I think we need more contemporary fantasy out there-- it helps burnt out fantasy readers like me, and also helps introduce fantasy to those who generally don't read it. I think it uses a cool blend of paranormal witches with some higher fantasy Fae. It mostly takes place in our modern world, though, so nothing is too overwhelming.

The romance is full of clear communication and support. I always dislike romance novels that use miscommunication as part of the plot or conflict. It was so refreshing to have characters open and honest with each other.

The characters themselves are super lovable and I wish them the best. One in particular has been through a lot in just 374 pages. I know this is a series, so I hope they catch a break at some point.

I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the series. Keep up the great work, Julie! :)

The mix of contemporary and fantasy is well done [IMO]. This story has a strong friend group. Great dialogue. I appreciated the way love interests communicate in the moment. It's sex positive,  and the respect comes acrossed on page clearly.  I loved the intimacy within the relationships. Those sexy scenes were so 🔥 😍 👌.   I was engaged from the first page to the last... omg, the last!!! Book 2 comes out when?😭...📖🥰
