In this episode, Hamish is the prime suspect in another murder in his town. He is forced to go undercover to prove his innocence. And Pricilla's choice in men sure is getting questionable.

Another decent entry into the Hamish Macbeth series. It's not very challenging as a mystery, but it's a fun read, and I enjoy reading about the ensemble cast in Lochdubh.

Death of a Macho Man by M.C. Beaton

Blurb

When Hamish Macbeth, local constable of the Scottish village of Lochdubh, tries to break up one of the many fights involving Randy Duggan, the ruffian challenges him to a fistfight. But on the chosen day, Duggan is found shot to death and Macbeth is rumored to be the likely suspect. Macbeth must find the murderer, clear his name, and restore his Highland paradise to its usual tranquility.

My Opinion

This is the 12th book in the series and I am working my way through them quite quickly. So far, this is one of my favourites. This is a light-hearted series and so far all have been entertaining reads. As they are all relatively short, they make for quick afternoon reads.

This book was okay. Not my favorite of the series, but not my least favorite. I kind of just listened along without getting all that invested in the case. I did enjoy Macbeth's antics to ignore his orders and continue investigating this case just because he is stubborn, but also because he wants justice. And of course he is messing up his relationship with Priscilla, but that is not surprise at all.

RATING: 3.5 STARS

I liked this one as it made me laugh a few times, I do enjoy the ridiculous of this series. The quirky characters are always a hoot. I do find that Beaton is a bit harsh when talking about someone's looks (also personality) which leaves me a bit uncomfortable. It seems a bit mean, and am glad these are fictional characters.
